Human Guide Volunteers provide one-on-one assistance to blind and visually impaired (BVI) participants during Travel Visions Aloha for the Blind events. Volunteers receive training on proper guiding techniques, including sighted guide methods, verbal descriptions, and navigation assistance in various environments. This role is ideal for those who are patient, attentive, and passionate about making outdoor and community experiences accessible to all.
Responsibilities:
• Assist BVI participants in safely navigating event spaces
• Provide clear verbal descriptions of surroundings and activities
• Offer support while maintaining participant independence and dignity
• Follow the TVA human guide training to ensure a safe and enriching experience
• Commit to scheduled events and communicate availability in advance
