Volunteer at the 11th Annual Hawaii Book and Music Festival!

Calendar Happens On Apr 30, 2016
Expired

Description

The nonprofit FREE-admission Hawaii Book and Music Festival has a simple goal: To celebrate story and song -- to celebrate books, reading, all forms of storytelling and music in Hawai‘i, while raising funds for literacy programs. Our success is largely due to the enthusiasm of volunteers who welcome attendees, assist with registration, host presenters, staff author programs & panels, supervise book signings and much more. The event includes major authors, concerts, storytelling, panel discussions on many topics, games, children's activities and so much more... come help us make this year's festival the most fun yet!

Some details about volunteering:

• Volunteers will receive free parking, a free T-shirt, and snacks and drinks.

• The majority of volunteer activities require being on your feet for most of your shift. Please wear comfortable shoes.

• Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.  You cannot bring children under the age of 18 with you during your shift. You may join your family at the Festival before or after your shift(s).

• Volunteers may request different duties and take multiple shifts, though we ask for your flexibility in being placed the day of the Festival

MISSION AUDITORIUM: This requires an especially active and alert volunteer to strictly prohibit chewing gum, running and unruly behavior, provide water for singers, organize chairs and keep auditorium in pristine condition.

SATISFACTION SURVEYS: Work directly with the public at the festival to provide and collect attendee surveys upon their exit at information booth and other selected areas.

STAGES: Monitor the stages to keep schedule on time, provide water and or leis to presenters, announce presenters, act as runners if necessary, distribute programs to guests and answer information, encourage survey completion and donations to charity beneficiaries, and tidy area between presentations.

Mahalo for thinking about coming to volunteer at this fun and educational event. The Festival drew about 30,000 people last year and there are many various tasks that we need help with to make it a success.
