HILO/Big Island ~ Lu'au Meal for Homeless Keiki.
Aloha, Help feed our homeless keiki. Do you love to cook? Have a special Hawaiian dish you would like to share?
Project Hawai'i is a volunteer staffed nonprofit that provides life changing opportunities for homeless children to help them succeed. Our summer educational programs are the foundation of their success.
We invite you to be part of their graduation lu'au celebration by providing a traditional side dish for the children and their parents to enjoy while the children receive their certificates and backpacks for their new school year.
Our lu'au will host close to 100 attendees. These families are homeless and living in extreme poverty. This celebration is more than just a gathering, but it feeds their soul and instills hope for their future. Our children have worked all summer long and this is their special day to share all their achievements with their family and the volunteers. The teens will present a hula and we have many other presentations to make this their special day.
Guidelines:
- Each side or dessert dish provided will need to be 80-100 servings (One Large Tray), or individual count. The count is mostly children, so no need large servings. (maybe 50 adult size?)
- HOT ITEMS: Need to be placed in a either two small or one large serving tray and brought in a water foil tray to keep hot. (we will provide the warmers). If your dish needs something other than plate, please provide, such as a bowl, or cup.
- COLD SIDES: If your item needs to be cold and NOT room temperature, please bring in two foil trays placed inside a large foil tray with ice to keep cold.
- Other Sides: If you making a veggie tray, breads, etc. Please place in a large serving tray.
- DESSERTS: PLEASE FOLLOW THESE RULES: PLEASE!!! Due to the mess desserts can cause, we can not accept cakes, pies, brownies... anything gooey or messy. PERFECT CHOICES: Cookies, Mochi, Sliced fruits or kabobs, donuts, etc.
We are providing the LauLau and Rice, we need all the rest for a traditional Hawaiian graduation lu'au.
