Get Connected Icon 2-3 days a week for 2-3 hours

Description

As a caseworker under our Disaster Response department, you'll help people to recover after disasters by providing them with direct assistance, and referring them to our partners, as needed. Casework is great for anyone that has 2-3 days a week to give 2-3 hours each time they volunteer, and it's a great networking opportunity for nursing or social work students looking to gain service hours.

Requirements- Must be 18+ (to administer financial aid). Caseload is low, but this is a critical need position. Helps to follow up on DAT calls and those that seek shelter during major disasters.

Approx. 10 hours of training for base level, up to 20 hours of training for higher level casework- all training is done online at your own pace.

(A DAT-Disaster Action Team- goes out to local disasters like home fires, flooding, downed trees and other small-scale disasters to assist the people affected. They are the 2nd responders to events like these. Police/Fire will call our Disaster Hotline and the Hotline Volunteer takes down the information and deploys the DAT team. After the response is over, the caseworker takes over and stays with the family/individual until they're stable and the case can be closed).
