Description

Friends of Iolani Palace is in need of koa wood to create stanchions (posts for rope barriers).

These stanchions are necessary to guide visitors safely through the palace, protect the important cultural resources of the Hawaiian Monarchy, and organize events. There are two types of stanchions that we need to create more of: a regular stanchion and a stanchion that holds signs

Iolani Palace has the largest koa wood structure in the world, its Grand Staircase. As a historic site, we use koa wood for the stanchions to perpetuate a seamless historic appearance for the Palace.

This production project includes a total of 14 stanchions & 20 stanchion signs. To better help your understanding of how much and what size wood we need, these are the measurements as follows:

Stanchion base: 2" x 10" x 10"
Stanchion post: 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" x 36"

Stanchion-with-sign base: 2" x 12" x 12"
Stanchion-with-sign post: 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" x 36"

As a 501(c)(3) organization, we can provide you tax compliant donation receipt for your kokua!
