We are a community of hope that promotes the dignity of each person by helping them empower themselves. Through our programs we serve all people, especially those with the greatest need. Catholic Charities Hawaii has served the community since 1947 with various services with different areas of expertise. The service unit is part of the Senior & Community Division which has provided services to the elders and the homeless since 1973 and is a leading provider of elder services in the community.

 

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Ongoing Opportunities

Ø  Memory Mentors: Volunteers provide friendly in-home visits, support, and safety checks for people with memory loss or dementia who live alone and have little or no caregiving services. Providing grocery shopping for seniors, helping with mail and reminders are optional services. Services are provided on a regularly scheduled basis, once a week and are offered seven days a week, excluding holidays. Background checks required. Training provided. Ø  Phone-A-Friend: Volunteers telephone homebound seniors who live alone or are socially isolated on a regularly scheduled basis, once a week. Friendly phone calls and safety checks are offered seven days a week, excluding holidays. Background checks required. Training provided.  Call (808) 527-4777 for more information.
