Description

The Mālama Learning Center will be hosting monthly community workdays in an effort to heal the land, ocean, and multitude of life through engagement and education efforts in Leeward O'ahu as a part of our Ola Nā Kini restoration program. Workdays are held on the second Saturday of the month spanning mauka to makai rotating between 3 sites in Leeward O'ahu - Pālehua, Nānākuli Muliwai (Zablan's Beach Park), and Awawalei Food Forest (Hawai'i Agriculture Research Center in Kunia). Work includes, but is not limited to removing invasive species, outplanting native Hawaiian plants, caring for plants by watering and mulching, collecting seeds, propagating plants, moving logs, and picking up litter/marine debris. Volunteers should wear comfortable work clothes, covered shoes, sun/rain protection, and bring a refillable water bottle. We welcome everyone to kōkua us! MLC will provide tools, guidance, and water.
