Who We Are
The Family Promise of Hawai'i program coordinates over 60 interfaith congregations to provide overnight accommodations and meals for 3-5 homeless families, up to 14 people, for 1 week every 4 times a year. Families stay at the host congregation overnight, sharing dinner and breakfast with volunteers. In the morning families are transported to our Family Center, their "homebase" which serves as a safe place for children and provides our guests with access to phones, mail, fax, a copier, showers and laundry facilities. We have two Family Centers-one in Kailua and the other in Chinatown. While at the centers, families get ready for their daily activities, which may include caring for young children, going to school or work, or looking for jobs or housing.
What We Do
Family Promise of Hawaii's mission is to mobilize the community to help low income families achieve and sustain their independence. Family Promise of Hawai'i opened its doors to families in 2006 and has since helped over 1,000 parents and children secure housing.
