Who We Are
The Directors of Big Island Sailing Foundation believe that sailing promotes independent thinking, teamwork, physical and mental fitness, and a positive outlook on life. It is our goal to keep the children of Hawaii off "ICE" and on the water. Directors & volunteers can participate in sailing programs, grant writing. fund raising or transporting children to activities.
What We Do
It is the mission of the Big Island Sailing Foundation to facilitate sailing training and competition for the youth of Hawaii. Scholarships are available for at risk children. The foundation works to raise and provide funding for youth sailing programs throughout Hawaii County. Incorporated as a non-profit organization in the state of Hawaii in Sept 2002, BISF received IRS 501 c3 status in Sept 2003. BISF currently has $2700 in scholarship funds available. The Foundation raised funds and placed 6 sailing dinghies into a program in East Hawaii. The Foundation has retained ownership of 6 sailing dinghies, which it makes available to be used in youth sailing camps and competition in West Hawaii. BISF has two vacancies on the board of directors. We are looking for some one with enthusiasm to help children.
