The Sugar Museum is looking for friendly people to greet visitors and help out in our admissions and gift shop for a couple of hours a week. We welcome students and Scouts who need service hours.  

Duties at the front desk involve greeting and checking in visitors using Square payment platform. Gift Shop duties are ringing up sales using Square payment platform, stocking shelves, pricing merchandise. Both stations may have "busy work" when needed, such as folding brochures or keeping the lobby and shop neat and tidy. You'll spend a little bit of time at both stations, so there is plenty of variety. It's easy and fun!

Do you like working with students? The Sugar Museum's beloved education program teaches students about sugar history and plantation life. We are seeking volunteer tour guides who lead students through the museum using a question and answer style of exploration, and providing a welcoming environment.

You will join a pool of other docents who are called upon when a school makes a reservation at the museum. You decide when you volunteer! Shifts are weekdays 9:00 – 11:30 a.m.

Supporting museum education can be "Sew Amazing!" 

The Sugar Museum needs many hands to make lots of empty beanbag shells for its ongoing Education Program. The beanbags are a very important part of hands on, interactive student learning during field trips. This is a great activity for groups, students, Scouts, clubs, visitors, and families. We provide fabric, instructions and pattern. You can also use your own fabric scraps and sew by hand or machine.

The Sugar Museum is seeking volunteers to scan historic photos and maps from its archive using PC computers and scanning equipment. Your assistance will help protect and preserve Maui's sugar history and plantation heritage for the future. Bring your basic knowledge of computers and work with us in a 1902 plantation home! The task is repetitive, but you get to look at cool old photos while you work. Find out more about our collection here. Available shifts are Monday 12-2, Tuesday 12-2, Thursday 10-12 or 12-2.
