Volunteer: Honolulu Zoo Keeper Support Volunteer

Keeper Support Volunteers assist zoo staff with essential tasks such as cleaning animal enclosures, preparing diets, and creating enrichment items. This hands-on role is a great way to learn more about animal husbandry while working outdoors and contributing to the care of the zoo’s animals. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and must provide a current TB skin test and proof of a COVID-19 booster with their volunteer application to be considered. Those with an animal background and or going to school for an animal related field preferred.

Keiki Zoo Goat Yard Volunteers assist zoo staff with essential tasks such as guiding guests on appropriate ways to approach and interact with the goats, monitoring gate access to ensure proper use of the double doors, cleaning up after the goats, and reporting any animal or guest safety concerns to Keiki Zoo staff. This guest-facing role is a great way to gain experience working with animals and the public while helping to maintain a safe, fun, and educational environment in the Keiki Zoo Goat Yard. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and must provide a current TB skin test with their volunteer application to be considered. This shift has a 1-hour break from 12:00noon-1:00pm.
