Needs From: Aloha United Way

Volunteer: Distribution Day Volunteers

We are looking for volunteers every Wednesday and Friday, all year-round. Shifts run between 9 am - 12 pm and/or 12 pm - 2 pm.    Volunteer positions include:   - Loading orders: Support our clients by delivering their orders to them outside and helping load the items either into carts, bags, or cars.    - Running orders: As cars pull up to the warehouse for order pickup, we need runners to grab the already-filled orders off our shelves, add in fresh produce (as necessary), and deliver them to the cars.    - Traffic monitoring: Families begin lining up in their cars for food pickup and we need traffic help to coordinate the pickup. We're located in a residential neighborhood and do our best to be mindful of our neighbors on these pickup days. This is a very high need position for us!   - Preloading: Every cart that goes out has what we call a "daily special" containing bread, dairy products, fresh produce, and more! We have a designated preloading station where volunteers are setting up each cart as it cycles through the warehouse with the rotating items from our daily specials.    We are always looking for flexible and energetic people who want to come support our work. We are a fast-paced organization and appreciate a willingness to learn. Our team is kind, passionate, and grateful for the outpouring of love from our community that allows us to continue operating the way we do.    Safety of our volunteers is our highest priority. We ask that you wear close-toed shoes and do whatever energizes you prior to your shift. Eat a hearty meal, hydrate, and ensure that you're well-rested before coming in. We have many moving pieces, large pieces of industrial machinery, and an awesome group of volunteers going in and out of the warehouse. For those working outside, there are cars driving through and it can get exhausting being out in the sun. We happily provide sunscreen, safety vests, refrigerated beverages, and snacks to all of our volunteers.    To learn more, please visit our website https://thepantry.org/ or email volunteer@thepantry.org and we look forward to connecting with you!
