Aloha,
Project Hawai'i is a nonprofit run 100% by volunteers and solely supported by public donations. We offer a free summer camp for homeless keiki between the ages of 3-7, and seeking volunteers to help us with our science day activities.
This activity is located on the BIG ISLAND>>>> So, if you are not on the Big Island, and still wish to help, we are accepting science project materials to make our day a success. Please email for details...THIS IS ALSO A VITAL part of the program success.
Volunteers are sought between July 15th-17th. This science day will be conducted throughout the day starting at 9:30 a.m. until probably 2 p.m. maybe 3, depending on all the projects we will be implementing. The camp is hosted at Kalopa State Park on the coast half way between Kona and Hilo.
Volunteer duties:
We are seeking someone who will be able to create some of the science day activities and bring the basic materials needed . We do have some planned out, but we are not great in the science department, and looking for someone to help make our program better.
Some ideas that we have had in the past is:
- Silly Puddy
- Volcano (easy kind with backing soda, etc)
- Lava Tubes
- Rain sticks
- Leaf transfer
We are open to your ideas, just remember these children are very young, and need hands on EASY projects to keep them going.
TWO WAYS TO MAKE THIS A GREAT DAY:
1. We can all work on one project together if your are only bring yourself, or a few people,
OR
2. If you are a group of people or youth group, we can split our little one's into smaller groups and they can rotate between projects going on at the same time.
