Project Hawai'i, Inc., is a nonprofit organization run 100% by volunteers and solely supported by public donations. Our agency provides free services to the homeless (unsheltered) children across the islands.
Our summer educational program will begin in July for these precious children. Providing them with a fun filled summer full of educational programs, healthy meals and life skill training. After our summer camp, the children will have a graduation ceremony at which they will receive their new school supplies to go back to school prepared.
We are going to be conducting a SIGN UP day for these children to participate in both the summer camp and receive back to school supplies.
WHAT WE ARE SEEKING/HOW YOU CAN HELP: More details will be provided once you inquire to participate
- We are seeking volunteers that would like to provide a few activities for the children in the park while their parents fill out the papers for services. Activities should be geared towards any age child to participate. Can be a game with prizes (hygiene or other useful items), relay races, face painting, crafts, etc....Each activity/game should have a prize for the child. Great options are basic hygiene (like bars of soap, shampoo, or crayons and books, etc.)
- We are seeking volunteers that would like to prepare the luncheon meal for the families. This can be simple foods, like hot dogs and chips, juice box, etc. Or can be a full hot meal, like chili, stew, etc. We are open to what you would like to provide. We will plan to have 80 or so people to attend. You will need to bring everything warm (we have warmers, but it needs to be fully prepared, we are in a park without any facilities.)
GROUP SIZE RESTRICTIONS:
Two people per activity...ie: If you are providing a game, two volunteers can attend to run the game. So, if your group is 8 people, please provide 4 activities or games. Limit 8 people!
Four people max for the food service. We will accept ONE group to provide the food and limit to 4 people to attend.
While we understand that some LARGE groups wish to participate and make a difference in the lives of these children, we need to limit the size of the groups attending. For the privacy and feelings of the children, we do require that NO PHOTOs are taken. This is already an invasive process to these families and we want to respect their privacy.
OPTIONAL: For those that would like to bring used well kept and CLEAN clothing, that would be fine. Please do NOT bring other items, these families have limited spaces to care for items.
