Our organization understands that not everyone is able to support us monetarily or have the time to volunteer weekly with us at Helping Hands Hawaii, however we are more than happy to have you support us by donating the following items:

Beds – all sizes, especially single beds (not accepting at this time) Household furniture – dining tables, sofas, coffee tables, chairs Small appliances – microwaves, electric kettles, fans Accessories – footwear, handbags, backpacks Linens, towels, mats Hygiene – shampoo, body wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, feminine products, etc. Brand new infant/child car seats, strollers, carriers and cribs

Based on client need and liability concerns, we are unable to accept:

Used infant/child car seats, strollers, carriers and cribs Sporting equipment – treadmills, weightlifting machines, golf clubs, etc. Hospital/medical equipment – hospital beds, wheelchairs, crutches Custom-built appliances Musical instruments Computers and related equipment, specialized electronics

Tips for donors:

All donations must be in good, working order without visible damage: Upholstered items should not be broken or have excessive rips, stains, pet hair or fading Wooden items should not have excessive watermarks or discoloration, chipped edges, missing hardware or parts, etc. Items should be clean and free of odor Items MUST be pest free (i.e., no bed bugs or termites) Small appliances should be clean and in working condition Donations that are broken, torn, dirty, rusted or in need of repair cannot be accepted Donations are distributed to families in “as is” condition. Because of this, staff may decline a donation if, in their judgement, the item is not in clean, usable condition. Double check your donations for any personal belongings. Once we receive donations, they are often available for clients and may not be in our possession for you to recover your items.

When a child who suffers from a life-threatening illness is hospitalized for medical treatment, they can spend weeks and sometimes months in the hospital.  HUGS makes weekly visits to these children and distributes small gifts for interactive play to help them find cheer and fun during their long stay.

You and your team can help provide these gifts by creating a special toy collection of the following items:

-Brand new, unopened packaged toys and games for ages 1-18 years old

-Please be mindful of size with these items. Often times families have lots to carry out of the hospital so large, bulky items can be hard to add to the bags.

-Activities that will get the kids interacting with others and having FUN is key

-NO stuffed animals, blankets or used toys
