For those who are already educated or experienced in helping divorcing and separating couples, this training supplements that knowledge with mediation skills and tools in order to expedite their path to becoming a volunteer mediator for the MCP. Participants learn about the nature of conflict, core mediation skills, a facilitative mediation model as well as modifications to help divorcing couples work through emotions. They also learn the skills to address key issues in a divorce, such as where children will live, time-sharing, co-parenting and decision-making, and division of property and debt.
